But for whatever reason, some people have just been bothered by the tone of my overall blog, I think, and therefore take some pretty strong shots when I least expect it. It's jarring and pretty darn hateful stuff that I can delete from the blog, but not from my memory. Could be just one or two people, but it still takes the wind out of my sails, which I guess is their intent.

I fully admit to trying to stir things up at times, but never understand why people take things so personally and can't just have a civil debate about certain subjects.

Anyway, being controversial certainly hasn't increased my traffic, so I too have backed off from posting as frequently or as lengthy as I did in prior months.

Not burned out, Mick. Just a little overwhelmed with life right now and also underwhelmed with the power of my own intellect to create something worth reading on a daily basis.

I'm surprised that I haven't had to hit the delete button on a comment yet after over a half year of doing this. It's hard to believe that not even one potty mouthed wacko has come along.

But, unlike you, I've never taken on the Jerry Lee Lewis cult in this forum and felt their wrath.

You write on controversial issues at times and you call 'em as you see 'em, so I'm not surprised you take occasional fire from readers. I wrap my subversive messages in posts about bunnies and bluebirds, so nobody seems to get too upset with me.

Blogging burnout? But it's more diary-like and less newspaper-"columinish" than I expected. Sometimes I feel blogging is isolating me from the real world. My intent was the exact opposite. Of course, that could be my unemployment causing those feelings, too.

One other thing I have noticed about blogging... Reactions can be far more vicious and personal here than in print. I can handle an angry letter to the editor about something I wrote. But a few reactions I've gotten from a few posts have caused me to hit the delete button and have gotten me down about human beings in general. Even a couple of friends have taken shots (they don't know I know where the anonymous comments came from). Needless to say, they are no longer friends.
